Plotting General Question

Last Updated: Dec 29, 2016 08:41AM EST

Question:
There are several plotting questions that specify a reference point, such as Faulkner Island Light, or Horton Point light, etc. How do I locate points that are not as obvious as an Island or Point? Specifically, the South West Ledge light or New Haven Outer Chanel light? I would not be able to locate Long Island on a map, so have no local knowledge of the area to work from, and a Google search doesn't give me any clues either. Based on the number of times I see those points referenced, I am thinking I should locate them.

Solution:
Those positions can be found by using the Light List that is provided in the program or using the Coast Pilot found in the resources page of the online classroom.

These locations can also be found by watching the online videos.
