Determining deviation from deviation table

Last Updated: Dec 30, 2016 01:01PM EST
In the quiz for plotting, one question states: "you are on a course 134 degrees per standard magnetic compass".   In the deviation table, it shows: 120 degrees = 1.0E and 150 degrees = 1.0W

What is the deviation to use in the test question for 134 degrees?

Solution:
Any time you are using the deviation table for solving one of the online plotting problems... Use the deviation that is closest to the heading of the vessel given in the problem. In the example you gave 120 degrees is closest to the heading of the vessel so the deviation would be 1.0E in this case.

Please do not forget to watch the videos that are in the online program they will simplify learning the plotting process...
