This is a minutiae question, but it has been bothering me regarding RACONs. Page 27 in the workbook says the beginning of a RACON presentation occurs about 50 yards "beyond" the RACON position. Does "beyond" mean on the farther side of the RACON position relative to my boat, or does it start 50 yards FROM the RACON on the side closest to my boat? I can't find any good pictures of the radar presentation; hence my question. Thanks; hope I'm clear on what I'm asking.

A RACON emits a signal in a 360 degree circle. So the approximately 50 yards reference is from the RACON position itself and again this is an approximation.
